This is by far 1 of the best hang outs at the beach. Monday - Thursday they have better specials than any where else. On the weekends it has the best crowd around. This place is a must any night your going out.
(5)Brandon G.
Lookie Lookie Brandon found a cookie. Alright so this place come Friday and Saturday night is packed, Packed, PACKED, and that's cool if that's your thing. Me ...not so much. Lots of pretty people(by the by I is not one o' dem pretty people) there to look at pretty people and show off their new abercrombie and stench shirt or coach bag or whatever. Two pool tables but forget about it on the week-end too many bodies pressed up against each other for that. The Djs have been great though almost every time I've been there. They'll play everything from super man that ho ? to the always welcome dropkick Murphy's....which brings us too The Ritz's saving grace in Daddy's book. Monday $1 Newcastle...yeah that's cool. Wednesday ONE F-ING DOLLAR GUINNESS....yes you heard me. So one pint leads to twelve and these guys thought it'd be a swell idea to play some dearly beloved Shipping off to Boston and this drunk little paddy was in mick heaven. Seriously guys dollar Guinness on Wednesday night and it's not really that crowded. Never too long a wait for a pint of the black stuff. I even manage to get a seat the bar and plant myself there for the duration or as long as my dancing shoes and/or bladder will let me. Go there, just not on the weekend and don't steal my spot at the bar. Really, be there you know I will. p.s. Yes we did get kicked out but hey all in good fun.

Depends on yer needs I guess. If you want a big, $3, "I don't care it's just to get drunk" drink and lil college girls running around, then hit up the Ritz. It's always packed and personally, I've had a good time there. Not the ideal spot for a sophisticated night on the town, but it's the beach. It's like a frat party there.
(4)nicholas n.
Ritz is a very nice bar inside and out. Great times were witnessed here. Definitely check it out if you want to have a good time in Jax Beach. Nightlife it up people!!!
(4)Jenn S.
I enjoy the ritz. it's nice to drink outside unless I'm wearing heels & there's no where to sit. then it kinda sucks, but the crowd is less pretentious than most places at the beach. though I swear a fight breaks out everrry time I go.

Dude, it was raining like a muther, like it has been fer the last three months here in N Fla, I cut outa werk early, the boss was in the office makin it with a couple of the waitresses and he was gonna be in there a while, so I decided to go have a coldie at some new place I had heard of, The Ritz. Fortunately I found a parkin space close to the door, got a bit wet in the rain goin to the door, and a chic named Casey greeted me with a fresh bar towel. A nice greeting I must say. I toweled off. "Fireball up and a Bud Lt please." "Here you go sir, and here is my phone number too, I get off at 6." Well I wont go into the details, but I now do Happy Hour here at least three times a week and I can attest to the fact that all the bartenders are just as friendly as Casey. I love this place!
(5)Tom H.
The ritz happy hour is the best in town!!! A great group of people hang out here on a regular basis... It's like the "Cheers" of Jax Bch!!! Ask for Casey and she will be sure to make your visit a great experience!
(5)Jason B.
Strong drinks in pint glasses and the busiest bar on the weekends. A younger crowd later but a staple bar to go to for happy hour to 2am. Pool, fooseball, games galore. Ask for Archie for an absinthe shot!!
(5)Ryan H.
When I first moved to Jax 4 years ago I thought the Ritz was alright. Now I'm not impressed at all. Gets really packed and the crowd that goes here isn't really my flavor. It's like the sorority/frat type of crowd and the women here are prudes. Can't even get a friendly conversation going with any of them because they're all on guard to any guy that tries to talk to them. Drinks and prices are ok I guess. Not sure if they have food or not?
(3)Lin G.
Quick question: where would you go to get cheap drinks at the place to be in town? Probably Ritz. I have no idea why I thought it was a Mexican place when I first pulled in. After ordering drinks, I could not believe how cheap they are, and they come in large glasses. For a second, maybe I did feel like it was Mexico. Better have a beyond legit ID because the bouncers here will study that shit like it's a coded treasure map. The guy to girl ratio is about, oh 5 to 1. But the girls tend to be better looking so maybe it'll all even out in the end. Meaning the top 20% of dudes can hope to have a real chance to not getting rejected and everyone else just go home and play Call of Duty or watch Walking Dead reruns.

The Ritz, like most things in life, is all about timing. If you come here on a Friday or Saturday night, you'll likely hate it. There's going to be a line to get in, a line to get a drink, and a line to the bathroom. Despite all the waiting, people flock here. Why? Because it's the frickin' RITZ, that's why. I find the best times to come here are Monday-Thursday night, and Sunday during a jags away game. You'll find a decent crowd of Jax Beach locals sprinkled in with a 21st birthday or two, and enough room to play some uninterrupted gamed of pool. If you're here during a jags away game, you'll find free burgers, wings, and fried fish. On top of that, all their drought beers are $2.50, including sweet water 420 and Guinness. At the end of the day, the place is a staple and it's not going anywhere. It's owned and managed by the same people that run the Brix and Lemon Bar, so there's a chance you'll see some of the same bartenders around. 4/5 will wait to get in.
(4)Einar J.
Mature crowd early and very young crowd at night. Service is hard to come by.
(3)Kyle L.
I had a great time visiting until one of the bar tenders kicked me out for buying a girl a drink. Also, he took my money for the drinks before I got kicked out.

The Ritz: a great place to meet. If you like smoke heavy air and loud music. Ten years ago I was at the Ritz about once a week. A bar at the beach was the only place you could find me when I was going out with my friends. I don't know what's happened over the years, but it's not as crazy/busy as I remember it to be. Granted at 10 PM we were ready to call it a night rather than just starting it. Decently priced mixed drinks are a winner, so when I want a 'bar' Ritz will be on my list but I think I'll stick to my brew pubs for now.
(2)MaryAnn J.
This place, it really depends on how your mood is. Came here for my girlfriend's birthday. It was a blast. Fun place to get together. Drinks are good and decent price. Bartenders were super friendly and awesome. Definitely be back soon.
(5)Athena R.
I've been here a few times over the past year. Actually, it was exactly the one year anniversary of the first time I had been there when I went last weekend for my birthday to meet up with my crew for a night of bar crawling. Frankly, it's not the best I've ever been to, but the drinks are decent at a decent price and the crowd is nice to look at. There is a particular corner by the bathroom that we like to hang out because it's less people bumping into us. There is a little shack outside that serves food, and it smells awesome and I'm more sad that I didn't try their food rather than stay the whole night in Ritz. The night I went was kind of empty but I still enjoyed the decent music. There is this really cute walk-up window called Hole In The Wall Bar and I can't help but laugh about it. They are allowed to smoke here, and seeing the college crowd and beach visitors trying to hook up and impress one another is funny to watch. I pretty much people watch while there. Maybe it was the night I was there, but it didn't make me feel like partying, but it was easy to meet my friends, have one drink then leave. Other nights I have been there, it has been live. Great fun, awesome drinks and intense music ranging from rap to pop to top 40 to EDM. I can't complain about the place, but I'm sort of hit-or-miss with this place when it comes to a good time.
(3)Maria C.
Walked in for a drink the waitresses were to busy trying to hit on dudes to take my order .. I waited for about ten minutes and the waitresses were still talking on the same guys with their backs turned to the costumers .. I would say worst service ever but I didn't get served ... If I could give 0 stars I would
(1)Jordan L.
This is definitely a place to go party. We went here twice this past weekend, and have been before on past visits to Jacksonville. This place is always happenin. Sometimes too happenin. It can be hard to move around through the bar because it is so packed, which makes getting drinks a nightmare. I would recommend buying drinks by the twos whenever you get to the bar. Other than that, expect to have a good time if you enjoy dancing.
(4)Katie C.
Oh, the Ritz. Like most people at the beach, I have a love/hate relationship with this place. It's slogan "A Great Place to Meet" may very well be true because you'll usually find it overwhelmingly packed on Friday and Saturday nights. Still, a large percentage of the clientele is obnoxious and overserved on these nights. I generally steer clear unless its a special occasion. However, for Happy Hour or to watch football on a Sunday afternoon, the Ritz is actually a great bar. Barstools that are hidden away on busy nights are repositioned around the huge, central bar, TVs all around, three pool tables as well as foosball are available for enjoyment. It's really a completely different vibe. The service is usually efficient even on the crazy, busy nights, and I actually love a few of the bartenders. All in all, I'd say the Ritz is a little overrated as far as beach bars go, but it's still "a pretty good place to meet." :)
(3)Jerry T.
A strange corner of Jax beach. I can say that the price is definitely right here. They have a large draft selection, and seem to put out reasonably tasty mixed drinks. Low and behold, they even mix up a decent bloody mary. Here are a few take aways from the couple of times I've been to the Ritz. First, if you stop by you will leave smelling like the Ritz. It does not matter how long you are here, it's just going to happen. Which brings me to my second point: people smoke here. Not just casually, but pretty heavily all day. On the upside, they have an enormous bar. It takes up probably a third of the square footage of the bar, so you should never have any trouble getting a drink. The crowd is more local than some other spots. There are quite a few old barflies here during the day posted up on their stools. What a great place to watch old people hook up. At night I understand it gets a little louder and definitely younger. The charm is the divey-ness. Music is just on the trashy side of normal, but it fits. Decor is minimal and smoke stained and the crowd is here to party. Don't forget to tip your ratchet DJ, because apparently he has a tip jar.
(3)Jimmy L.
What can i say... Its a great place to meet. This place is always fun for all ages. Football Sunday (away games) is the best spot in Jax Beach. Friday/Saturday nights is always packed if you dont mind waiting in line. Cant imagine Jax Beach without the Ritz
(5)Xerxes N.
This is where all the beautiful people in JAX beach go to hang out for a fun night. I rolled in here with my buddies Saturday and even at close to midnight there was a 10 minute waiting line out the door. The place is very spacious and sits close to the beach. You can hang at the bar, dance it up or chill in their patio area. It was a good mix of everything at a bar --- people were dancing, dudes were hitting on all the women, TVs were all over the place to catch up on sports and they have pool tables and a foosball center (really? foosball?). Obviously with a line out the door this place gets really packed and for good reason. For me it was as simple as standing around sipping on a beer people watching while chatting it up with the fellas. The place appeared to have a lot of young professionals although I felt like I was in college again. For a really busy place they do a great job of keeping their restroom clean. It does stink that they let people smoke inside although your clothes won't reek of smoke like other places. Of all the bars I've been to this weekend I'll be sure to come back when I'm in town again. Now if I can only leave there without whiplash next time I visit.

Too old to come here but still like it when I stumble in.
(3)Sherry N.
Absolutely TERRIBLE. Rude service, dirty atmosphere. The female bartenders completely ignored me (& other pretty girls) trying to get drinks- most likely thinking they will get better tips from guys. WRONG. I was a bartender for years throughout college and always treat other females with respect. I had to have my husband come to the bar and he was served right away even though I had been standing there and was looked at numerous times by both female bartenders. When I did get served they were EXTREMELY RUDE. Immature and caddy to say the least. (Even the older lady that was back there). Not a place I would want to hang out with such terrible customer service. You would think they would at the least be polite or say thank you because they work in a tipping profession. Plus the bar and bathrooms were dirty. Trust me- avoid this place. There are WAY better places on the beach to give your business to.
(1)Christine I.
This place was fun! We met up with some out of town friends here to catch a quick drink.... and stayed for four hours. The drinks were pretty cheap and They played pretty good music until the crowd arrived, then it switched to techno-dubstep-awful. I've hear nightmare stories about this place but my first experience was A-OK.
(3)Julie A.
FREE entry and you get to relive your college years. Yes, you are surrounded by them, it's like an unofficial frat party. Crowd is diverse and mainly in their low-to-mid-20's and 30's. Music is top 40, hip hop, and of course a sprinkling of the standard 3 or 4 80's songs you hear all over Jacksonville whether or not it is 80's night, including Def Leppard's "Pour Some Sugar on Me" (Yes, that song followed us into every single place we went to that night!) They have a little patio area where you can smoke outside and if you're lucky, grab a table to chillax. There's a bar in the middle of the place, but plenty of room to dance and it was pretty packed but you could still move your arms, so that was a plus. For the free entry, I'd definitely come back.

The Ritz, what can one say??? I remember it from days of old when it was run down and sad. Even after I turned 21 my parents wouldn't allow me to go there and I never did. Scary..... Now, that has all changed. It seems to be the happening place at the beach on the weekends. I tried to go on St. Patricks Night but the line was around the parking lot. FORGET IT!! I don't need green beer that bad! If you go during the week and for happy hour it is a more relaxed crowd, easy to get an inexpensive drink and nice to us older folks who will be gone shortly anyway cause we get up and go to work the next morning. The happy hour prices are amazing and I am surprised they don't bring in more business. Maybe I was just there on the wrong (or right!) day. The have completely remodeled it from days of yore and the woodwork is beautiful. I am so happy to see a Beaches Icon come back into grand style.
(3)Katie R.
Awesome DJ. Spacious bar. 100 different kinds of liquor, which they pour generous amounts of into their drinks. patio overlooking the beach. After coming here a number of times i'm still impressed. don't you worry Ritz, i'll be back soon :)
(5)Stephen V.
I feel that some of the previous yelpers missed the boat on this one. Ritz is a watering hole I frequent often, but make no mistake there are issues with this spot. I will start with the positives. The drink prices are very good, especially if you show up during the week for an afternoon drink. The bar is large enough to find room to order even on the busiest weekend, though this should never be a problem. (Who are these people that hover at the bar? They already ordered. Move along chump.) The bar tenders are awesome. There tends to be a good amount of pretty people that show up. On to a couple of the negatives. There tends to be a good amount of pretty people that show up. (Some absolute douche bags hang out here) The music might be the worst part about the place. (If I hear that freakin' Journey song one more time I will explode. Guess what? I have, in fact, 'stopped believing'. ) Nobody dances. (My theory on the popularity of this place is based on the assumption that most guys can't or won't dance. Maybe that's why they are glued to those bar seats.)
(3)Jenny M.
This place is always a solid fun time! I agree that of the people in Jacksonville, they have the most attractive crowd I have seen, which also attracts some creepy guys. I guess most guys think this is a bar to hook up with people. This place is very crowded, has long lines and gross bathrooms, but it is a very fun atmosephere and just enough room to awkwardly dance against a juke box. I like the music they play, I like that the bar is in the middle so you always have an exit to avoid people, and they have great drink choices. It can take a while to get a drink though, and the bouncers are anal about people sitting on the window sills and blocking walkways. But other than that, its a place to have fun, get crazy, and dance a little.
(3)R J.
Out of the many bars i've been to this has to have one of the largest bar space available. It gets pretty business for the weekends but there's really nothing special about it. O yeah and the worst part was the people smoking inside!! Not a fan of that! That alone took 2 stars off!
(2)Zac K.
Definitely not a bad place to hang out at all. Everyone here is beautiful... literally. They always have good drinks, although when it's busy it could take a while to get one. On a side note, I know they're notorious for tossing people out, both guys and girls. And this can be for absolutely no reason at all. Also, it seems like they always have music going, yet nobody dances; just a lot of standing around in groups, but like I said, not a bad place to go!
(3)Macie R.
My son is active duty military, he and 4 of his shipmates went to this bar. One of the guys ordered a drink, it was $5.00. He pulled $5.00 out of his wallet. The bartender rudely plopped a tip jar in front of him. He ignored it, next thing he had bouncers escort him out. My son yelled to the other shipmates "Let's go..." and out the door they went. My son went up to the bouncers, hands in the air in a somewhat surrender position and asked politely why their shipmate had been tossed. They explained the bartender wanted him out because he didn't tip. The kid didn't even get a sip of his drink, he wasn't refunded his $5 and he was tossed out like yesterday's news. I'm sorry a tip is given for services received and pouring one drink then having a tip jar slammed on the bar in front of you... that doesn't get a tip in my book. The bouncers were polite to my son in answering his question as to what happened but I think it is stupid they toss someone out for not decorating the mahogany quick enough! Everyone beware of this joint... it sounds like a rip off joint if ever there was one! If you get treatment like this, hit them where it hurts, their pocketbooks! Stay clear and the only ones being tossed out will be them on the street when they start losing clientele! I answered not sure on almost all of the questions for the simple fact that my son & his friends weren't there long enough to find out anything about the place.
(1)Paul G.
Great drink prices! Great bar tenders! Great ambiance! Great Location! Who could ask for anything more! They have great drink specials every night of the week, there are TVs for sports or entertainment. There is usually a DJ, but they do have a pretty awesome jukebox. They have pool tables and Foosball. They have the nicest and cleanest men's room I have ever seen in a bar. The place gets crowded later at night, and there is almost always a high percentage of beautiful people here. The only way to improve this place would be for them to offer some kind of bar-faire snacks, but if they did that, I'd move in. They do have a pretty awesome food-trailer vendor that pulls up outside around 10 pm most nights, and their food is pretty good!
(5)Hilary L.
The Ritz is the one of the most reliable good times in Jacksonville Beach, and actually a great barometer of how the area as a whole is doing on any particular night. If Ritz is dead, all of Jax Beach is dead, and you might as well move on. I think their secret is pretty simple: strong drinks at good prices and lowest common denominator decor and entertainment. That last bit isn't really a put down either--there's an art to being "something for everybody" and these guys have it down. Sure, you'll have to to witness some embarrassing scenes and a fight or two will break out. But hey, its large numbers of drunk people in one place, what do you expect? Its all a good time, if you're looking for that kind of party, and if you're not, get out of Jax Beach for the evening. I think the key recommendation though is that "even the Ritz is dead tonight" is a cliche in the area for a totally dead night. Whatever else it may be, its a reliable party and a must try at least once.

Who wouldnt give this place a 5 star ? honestly ? The ritz is cool .. good looking people, fun atmosphere, and CHEAP drinks! Yes - I am a fan
